Privacy Policy
FanStudio builds Smart. Private. Offline. apps. Our goal is simple: keep processing on your device whenever we can, collect as little as possible elsewhere, and be honest about what we do use.
This policy explains how we handle information in:
- our apps (like Photo Space Saver, DocSnap, and our games),
- our website at
fanstudioapps.com, and - our optional newsletter.
If anything here feels unclear, you can always email us at hello@fanstudioapps.com.
1. Apps: on-device by design
FanStudio utilities and games are built to run offline as much as possible. For tools like Photo Space Saver and DocSnap, that means:
- On-device processing. Photo analysis, compression, OCR, and summaries happen on your device. We don’t run our own servers for these features.
- No account systems. You don’t need to create an account with FanStudio to use our apps.
- No third-party analytics SDKs in apps. We don’t embed advertising or tracking SDKs in our iOS apps.
- Local storage only. Photos, documents, notes, game progress, and analysis results are stored on your device or in your iCloud (if you enabled system-level backups), not on FanStudio servers.
Crash reports and diagnostics
If you’ve opted in to share diagnostics with Apple at the system level, Apple may send us aggregated, anonymised crash reports for our apps. These can include:
- device model,
- iOS version,
- basic information about what was happening when the app crashed.
We use this data only to debug and improve stability. We don’t receive information that directly identifies you, and we don’t combine crash data with other data sources to build profiles.
In-app purchases
Some apps offer paid features as in-app purchases. All billing is handled by Apple. We never see your full payment details. Apple tells us:
- which product was purchased, and
- whether a purchase was successful or refunded,
so we can unlock or restore pro features on your devices.
2. Support and direct contact
The main way to get help is by emailing hello@fanstudioapps.com.
- What we see: your email address, the content of your message, and any screenshots or attachments you choose to send.
- How we use it: to reply, troubleshoot issues, and improve our apps.
- How long we keep it: only as long as reasonably needed to support you or keep necessary records (for example, to understand recurring bugs).
Please avoid sending sensitive information unless it is strictly necessary to explain the issue. When possible, blur or cover personal details in screenshots.
3. Website: analytics and logs
Our website at fanstudioapps.com is mostly a static landing page for our apps.
Like many small sites, we use basic analytics to understand which pages people visit and
where traffic comes from.
Server logs
The hosting platform (Firebase / Google Cloud) may log standard technical information such as:
- IP address and rough location (country or region),
- browser and device type,
- referrer URL and pages visited,
- timestamps and basic error logs.
These logs are used for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the site running reliably. We don’t use them to build marketing profiles.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics on the website to see aggregated stats such as:
- which pages are most visited,
- approximate geography of visitors,
- what links people click before visiting the App Store.
Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies to work. We use it only to understand overall traffic and improve the site. We do not use Google Analytics data to run targeted ads, and we do not try to identify individual visitors.
You can block or clear these cookies using your browser settings or content blockers if you prefer.
4. Newsletter (Buttondown)
If you subscribe to our newsletter (FanStudio Notes via Buttondown), we collect:
- your email address, and
- optional metadata provided by Buttondown, such as open and click rates.
Buttondown acts as our email service provider and processes your data on our behalf. We use this information only to send you updates and understand which topics are useful.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, your email will no longer receive messages, and we will stop using it for newsletter purposes.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited data with service providers who help us run the business, for example:
- Apple (App Store billing, crash reports),
- Google (Firebase hosting and website analytics),
- Buttondown (newsletter delivery).
These providers only use the data to perform services for us and are not allowed to sell it on our behalf.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
6. Data retention
- On-device app data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
- Support emails are kept only as long as needed to respond and maintain basic records.
- Analytics data is retained according to our providers’ default retention policies, which are typically in the range of months, not forever.
7. Children
Our utilities and games are not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain types of processing.
Practically, you can:
- Delete the app to remove on-device data.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the link in the email.
- Contact us at hello@fanstudioapps.com to request access or deletion of support emails related to you.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our apps and services evolve. When we make changes, we’ll update the date below. For significant changes, we’ll try to highlight them in release notes or on our website.
